Joan Ferrini-Mundy, NSF Assistant Director, Lecture & Reception

Dr. Joan Ferrini-Mundy has served as Assistant Director of the NSF’s Directorate for Education and Human Resources since February 2011. She is responsible for setting the vision and implementing the mission of EHR, which is to support excellence in U.S. science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education at all levels. Dr. Ferrini-Mundy was a member of the Mathematics Expert Group of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). In 2007-2008, representing NSF, she served as an ex officio member of the President’s National Mathematics Advisory Panel.

Dr. Ferrini-Mundy holds a PhD in mathematics education from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to coming to NSF, she held an appointment at Michigan State University (MSU) as a University Distinguished Professor of Mathematics Education in the Departments of Mathematics and Teacher Education.
